Day 18: My Favorite French Word

semi-overcast 70 °F

"Sortie"

If you make it through this post, I will tell you what it means, and you will surely understand why it is my favorite word.

Anyway, today we woke up, had a quick breakfast, and started yet another walking tour of the surrounding area. The first stop was at Ste. Chapelle, a beautiful chapel featuring tall stain glass windows.........most of which were covered in scaffolding.

There were a few spots that thankfully lacked scaffolding:

Including the focal point of the chapel, the stain glass window of Jesus being crowned with a crown of thorns:

Then, we headed to a boring museum about revolutionary times. The exit was my favorite part about it.

After lunch, we walked to ANOTHER museum, the...expansive Louvre. Alright, alright, it is the "grandest" museum in Paris, but at this point, I was kind of "museum-ed out." This was like the five-hundred-umpteenth museum on this trip!

The Mona Lisa was pretty amazing and temporarily lifted my spirits.

"Sortie" means exit. That is why it is my favorite word in French.

To end our afternoon, we took a bus tour of Paris, which ended at a great lookout onto the Eiffel Tower:

Then, we had dinner at our apartment and a quiet rest of the evening.

Stay tuned, because tomorrow we head to England!

Happy (sort of) museum-ing,

Henry
