Days 4-5: Birding in the Neighborhood

This morning I went birding before camp and found some good things along the road!

Hi Henry. The blue color on that bunting is stunning. And that Jay looks scrappy. Do they always look like that or could it be a fledgling? I like the willow flycatcher - it reminds me of my favorite backyard bird, the dark eyed junco.
Have you ever been to the Midewin National Tall Grass Prairie in Wilmington, IL? We were there Saturday and it seems like a good potential birding location. We heard a lot of bird sounds we did not recognize. It is a WWII munitions facility restored to natural prairie and wild bison have also been reintroduced.
