Birding a new continent!!!

HAH!! Fooled you! #aprilfools
Nope, unfortunately I am on the same continent as ever today, still in Chicago with family holding out during these epic scary times.
Yet another FOX SPARROW started my day:
This afternoon, I headed over for a solitary birding trip to Miller Meadow Forest Preserve in hopes of early migrants. From now on, I hope to go birding everyday (except for rainy days) as a way to escape the boredom of quarantine and to get out on nature.
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW glaring at me. Cool!
AMERICAN CROW:
AMERICAN KESTREL hovering, searching for prey. Look at those tail feathers!
SONG SPARROW:
White-tailed Deer:
EASTERN PHOEBE, a nice recently-arrived species!
RED-TAILED HAWK showing off its namesake feature:
Probably the highlight of the excursion for me was flushing up a total of 21 WILSON’S SNIPE:
Another nice addition was a pair of EASTERN MEADOWLARKS which nest here in summertime. Very cool — love grassland birds.
Bird-of-the-day to the Wilson’s Snipe with runner-up to the Eastern Meadowlarks!
Good birding,
Henry
