Year Anniversary Birding
Jerome Huppert Woods, IL
Friday 3 April 2020 61 °F
Today, April 3, marks a full year of dating Tian! So, to celebrate, we: went birding, of course!
This morning I added a new year bird: EASTERN PHOEBE! (at least I don’t think I’ve had this one from the yard before)
The two of us spent the early evening at Jerome Huppert Woods in River Grove, IL where we found a beautiful log alongside the flooded woodland and let the birds come to us. Painted Turtle:
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were prolific.
And I picked up my first RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET since coming home. Migration is certainly progressing!
As with any kinglet flock, a few nice BROWN CREEPERS were also present with their gorgeous camouflage. Tian and I loved admiring their antics.
Bird-of-the-day to the Ruby-crowned Kinglet with runner-up to the yard bird Eastern Phoebe. So nice to be out with Tian — I enjoy every second with her.
Good birding,
Henry

Congratulations! When will you bring her here? Hopefully things will clear up by this fall and we can travel again.
